"Hand in Hand"
 Today
was different for a number of reasons. First of all, our keynote speaker
decided to "pitch" his notes and go from the heart. It was a
very moving session as we explored the notion of living "hand in
hand." Certainly the image evokes the idea of helping others and
working together, but the most profound
lesson came at the suggestion that if our lives are going to be used by God
helping other then we need to put our hands one into the other... hand in
hand... in prayer!
It is through the relationship we have with God in prayer that we come to
realize the His awesome power and His will of grace for us.
 After
lunch today we traveled to the Swannanoa 4-H Camp for a service project.
It was a great chance to put the work of our hands together and help a worthy
cause. We began with prayer and dedicated our time to the glory of God and
the we got down to work... cleaning up trash, picking up sticks and
rocks and clearing underbrush.
Though we only worked there for an hour and a half, our effort was much
appreciated and we really accomplished a lot.

We returned to Montreat in a rainstorm and a number of the group
"showered" outdoors in the rain. Some were reluctant
participants, but all had a good time.

Tonight we will gather for worship around the Lord's Table for Holy
Communion. It promises to be a great time of fellowship on Christ. We
welcomed a couple of visitors today. Karen Lackey and Andrew Coates came
to stay the night. It was great to greet them and have them share a part
of the conference with us. Below is a picture of the small group leaders
whose efforts and contributions to leadership make the week so special.
You can see it takes a lot of people to put on this conference. The small
group leaders are the "front lines" and are backed up by at least as
many work crew, planning team, summer staff and others. THANK YOU!
