"My Hands"
It seems strange not having to sleep on top of one another this year.
The house is definitely less crowded since Philadelphia Presbyterian is staying
at the Winnsboro down the road. The morning shower arrangements were
certainly less confused!
After a sumptuous repast of Frosted Flakes and Cheerios, we headed over to
the morning session in Anderson. We were one of the first groups
there. It seems that this year's conference is comprised of a more
"fashionably late" crowd.
After the requisite "energizers" led by Keith Harris (a
self-professed "rhythmically challenged" person) and music by Rich
Richards (who composed the conference theme song), we jumped into the theme with
a presentation by keynoter David "Twinkle Toes" Sharp. We began
to "unpack" the ideas that are suggested "with these hands."
The first small group meetings followed and then all returned to Jordan Place
just before lunch.
Lunch brought us hot dogs, "fixin's" and fries. The
"dogs" were tasty and plentiful... just what we needed to energize us
for the afternoon's small groups.
Afternoon snoozes, duck feedings and other "diversions"
filled our free time. Supper served up BBQ chicken and rice, corn, salad,
biscuits and apple cobbler (mmmm!). The walk to Anderson was refreshing
and so was the worship service. We heard a sermon entitled "If These
Hands Could Talk" and gave an offering that will be used in Honduras to
help build a school for children there. The evening activity was a
"retro" dance... many opted out for some snacks back at the house.
So much for retro!
Here are a few images from the day: Here are a couple of Da Boyz!
and
some of Da Gurlz!
